Definition
Korea's electronic tax invoice (전자세금계산서) is a mandatory B2B tax document regulated by the National Tax Service.
Who must issue
All corporate businesses. Sole proprietors with prior-year supply value over KRW 80M. Issued via Hometax or certified SaaS (Dabinci, Douzone, Korean freee).
Flow
1. Supplier issues e-tax invoice 2. Recipient receives and approves 3. Auto-reported to Hometax by the 10th of the following month 4. Used as basis for input VAT credit on VAT returns
Practical tips
- No parallel paper invoices (fully electronic since 2024) - Late issuance penalty (1% of supply value) - TossPayments/PortOne PGs can auto-issue on payment completion
